Create. Connect. Be heard.

A new creative community for neurodivergent women in Derbyshire.

Alongside my work with neurodivergent young people at Art Loft @ 54 Lemons, I'm beginning to explore something new.

Create Out Loud is an idea for bringing neurodivergent women together through creativity, conversation and connection.

It's particularly inspired by women who discovered their neurodivergence later in life and women who may also have experienced domestic abuse.

My hope is to create welcoming, creative spaces where women can come as they are — without pressure to mask, perform or explain themselves.

You don't need to be an artist.

You don't need to be "good" at art.

And you won't be expected to share personal experiences.

You can simply come, create and connect.

🫶 Why Create Out Loud?

Some neurodivergent women spend years feeling different, misunderstood or unheard — particularly when their neurodivergence wasn't recognised earlier in life.

Create Out Loud is being developed around one simple aim:

Helping women move from feeling isolated and unheard towards feeling confident, connected and heard.

Creativity gives us something to do with our hands while conversation and connection can happen naturally.

☕ Coffee, Cake & Clay

One of the first gatherings I'm exploring is Coffee, Cake & Clay.

Picture a small group of women around a table.

Coffee. Cake. Clay. Conversation. 🎨

Each woman creates a pottery tile featuring her name and decorates it however she chooses.

Talk if you want to.

Create quietly if you don't.

There is no pressure to disclose anything or explain why you're there.

The aim is simply to spend time creating alongside other women and hopefully leave feeling:

Happy. Belonging. Seen.

Create Out Loud is right at the beginning.

Rather than deciding everything myself, I want to listen and learn about the kinds of creative spaces neurodivergent women would actually enjoy and find useful.
